A charming piece of Melbourne jewellery history.

Crafted by Aronson & Co. of Little Collins Street, Melbourne, this elegant brooch dates to the late Victorian era, around 1890–1900. Aronson was one of Melbourne’s most respected jewellers during the gold-rush and Federation periods, creating fine jewellery for generations of Victorians.

Fashioned in solid 9ct gold, the brooch features graceful scrolling forms centred around a sparkling old-cut paste stone. A tiny heart motif nestles beneath the setting, a subtle nod to the sentimentality that made Victorian jewellery so enduringly popular.

More than a century later, the design feels surprisingly modern. Delicate rather than ornate, it works beautifully pinned to a silk scarf, jacket lapel, knitwear, or collar.

A genuine antique that carries both history and wearability in equal measure.

Why We Love It

This is the sort of piece that survives because somebody treasured it. Small, elegant and beautifully made, it represents a disappearing chapter of Melbourne’s jewellery-making history while remaining effortlessly wearable today.

Because jewellery should tell a story.
